Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to you all after a fabulous first week back to school.
Thank you for all of your well wishes; it has been a pleasure to meet many of you at the gates in the mornings and after school too. I will endeavour to meet you all personally across the coming days and weeks.
I have taken great joy in seeing children jump straight back into their learning following the summer holidays. Whilst the start of a new academic year can be daunting, I am so proud to have seen children working collaboratively, supporting each other and setting exceptionally high expectations for themselves already. They really have impressed me during their learning, at breaks and lunchtimes too. I am thoroughly looking forward to getting to know them all individually whilst seeing them prosper in all walks of life here at Leigh Academy Paddock Wood.
Our new joining children within Early Years have now begun full days with us and have settled into school life really maturely. We can't wait to see them flourish in our Early Years setting and in their educational journey with us. There have also been a number of new joiners further up the school, I would like to welcome you all to Paddock Wood and I hope you have had a memorable first week with us.
Upon entering the school site, many of you will have noticed considerable work that is being carried out across our outdoor spaces. The development of play equipment, the replacement of the pagoda and refurbishment work has all be possible due to our amazing PTA and your community support too. We are so lucky to have such an active PTA and such support from yourselves as parents, thank you. We know that the children will love using the equipment for years to come. Mr Page worked tirelessly across the summer to ensure that the equipment is installed and saw through a clear vision to enhance the outdoor spaces for all children. I would like to thank him for not only his efforts to improve the play provision for all children, but his hard work across the entirety of last year in what was an extremely successful year for Paddock Wood.
You may also be aware that we have a live advert for additional support for our evening wrap around care provision. Should anybody wish to express their interest in this role then please find one of the senior leadership team personally or contact the Academy, our new email address is: info@paddockwood.latrust.org.uk
Once again, thank you for all of your support across this week and have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Moore
Please can we remind all parents/carers that only cars with a blue badge are allowed to drive onto site in the mornings or afternoons. Our road is used by many families and it is a safeguarding issue if we have cars driving in and out at drop off and pick up time. The safety of all our children and families is of utmost importance everyday.
If you have any circumstances that mean that you need to drive onto site then please do arrange a meeting with a member of SLT so we can issue you a school badge to display.
Can we please ask that we do not use the road as a walk way, this road can become busy on both sides and we are keen to minimise any risks posed by straying onto the driveway. Please endeavour to use the pathway rather than the road to keep everyone safe.
In our ongoing effort to make sure every child has access to a full education, please consider the impact a day off here and there makes to your child. Unnecessary absence can lead to a child feeling lost during lessons and can have a detrimental effect on their progress, both academically and socially.
We have been delighted to see so many of our children looking so smart on their return to school. A reminder that all children should be in full uniform everyday - either school uniform or PE kit.
School uniform consists of:
Blue academy logo jumper or cardigan with grey trousers, shorts or skirt
PE uniform consists of:
Blue academy logo jumper or cardigan with house coloured T shirt (green, blue or red), blue/black tracksuit trousers/shorts and black trainers.
NO branded/multi-coloured tracksuits please.
