Dear Parents and Carers,
It seems this term is going faster than ever as we head towards the end of the academic year.
Our transition days have been a huge success with children getting to meet their new teacher and learning support assistant. All classes have hit the ground running and I am excited to see what we can all achieve together in the new academic year. It was a joy to see the children settling in so well and producing brilliant work to very high standards straight away.
This week we have had the green light for a number of academy improvement projects which will take place over the summer which is brilliant news. If you live near to the school site, you will notice working teams coming and going across the summer and at weekends to replace large swathes of our roofing and an additional team in the building replacing our concertina doors in every classroom. The schedule of works also sees us open two dedicated learning spaces for DT and Music. Both of which will allow the children to deepen their learning and really immerse themselves in the subjects with a purpose built space with new resources. Our aim is to interweave DT, STEM and the Arts into our inquiry based learning model so that every child isn't only exposed to the National Curriculum but provided with the opportunity to pursue talents, passion and bring their ambitions to life (whether it be a budding singer, performer, artist or future engineer). Careers and the next steps in life are at the centre of everything we do and we hope that such ongoing developments enthuse the next generation to pursue their passions.
All parents and carers will enjoy the opportunity to come into school in term 1 of the new academic year to see your child(ren) in action in their new learning spaces. Increased parental engagement opportunities is a drive for us next academic year whilst valuing your voice too. I know that getting to see your child learning and the work they have produced is vital in developing the home school relationship whilst also motivating children too. We will endeavour to provide opportunities for you to engage in your child's learning wherever possible.
Thank you for your continued support across this academic year and I look forward to these exciting few final weeks of the academic year.
Yours sincerely and have a lovely weekend,
Mr Moore
This week our overall academy attendance has been 95.2%.
Our winning year group is Year 2 this week with 97% so congratulations to all pupils for being in school especially in this heat!
All Year 2 children have received some additional playtime today to celebrate this...and of course will be the holders of the Attendance Weekly Cup for a week!
Last week 20 children completed a 20 week program through Trinity Theatre called Speech Bubbles. Speech Bubbles is a weekly drama programme taking place in school time, designed to give young children an opportunity to have fun telling stories and acting them out.
The programme has a particular emphasis on supporting children to gain confidence and develop their physical and verbal communication skills. Each one of the children broke down barriers, gained confidence and should be super proud of all they have achieved. I know Rachel, our Speech Bubbles practitioner, Miss Juson and Mrs Drury are.
Well done you superstars!
The mini police cadets were busy this week - enjoying a session on CPR and the importance of keeping the brain alive. They also had their fingers printed and talked through how DNA can be used to catch people committing crimes. We ended the session with a parade around the playground.
The police cadets are certainly embracing their roles within school and are looking forward to their social action looking at car parking and speed limits around school pick up time.
This week we are really proud of...
Darcie and her pony, Razz, were champions at a horse show last weekend. She has now qualified for the Sunshine Tour 2025. Well done Darcie; we are so proud of you!
Holly took part in her first horse show at her riding school called Team Tutsham last Saturday 28th June. She came in 4th place and was riding her favourite pony called Rocky. Well done Holly; we are so proud of you!
Medication reminder - Children should not bring pills, tablets or medicines to the academy with them, in any kind of unmarked bottles. Medicines and lozenges etc, purchased from a chemist and brought in by a pupil for their use, will not be administered.
Only medicine prescribed by a doctor will be administered to a child, who is otherwise fit to attend the academy and in these instances, parents/carers must complete a medical form.
The academy is not obliged to administer any medicines, but is prepared to help parents by giving a lunchtime dosage of a prescribed medicine. These medicines MUST be marked with the child’s name and the exact dose to be given should be written on it. The spoon for measuring the dose should be included.
Staff will then keep a record of when medicine has been administered in school.
Parking on site - Parking on site is for staff only, the car park is not big enough to allow us to open it up to parents. When parents park in areas that are not designated parking spaces this creates a dangerous enviroment for your children. Also if your car is not in a space the delivery lorries have great difficulty in manoeuvring around the vehicles. This has previously caused bumps to peoples cars. Please speak to Mrs Chapman if you feel you need an exemption to this.
Dogs on site - Please can we remind you that we don't permit dogs on site. Even on a lead.
School Meals - Next week will be Week 3 of the school meal menu. Please remember to top up your accounts on MCAS if you pay for your child's meals. All meals MUST be paid for in advance.
Clubs - Most school clubs will finish next week. Only some external clubs will run during the week beginning 14th July - please check with your club provider.
