Raingutter Regatta

Ahoy, Pack 65! Get ready to set sail at our annual Raingutter Regatta—one of the most exciting, high-energy events of the Cub Scouting year!

Event Details

• When: Monday, September 28th at 7:00 PM

• Where: Kerr Building at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church (PPC), Mint Hill

The Recycled Boat Challenge Our Scouts are taking on a true engineering test: turning household items into high-seas vessels! We started constructing our boats out of recycled materials during our last meeting. If your Scout didn't finish their ship or missed the meeting, no problem at all—they can keep working on it at home! Grab your juice boxes, plastic bottles, corks, and foam, and let your Scout's imagination take the helm as they complete their design.

Shipyard Specs & Rules To keep the race fair and ensure every ship can clear the channel, please follow these build guidelines:

• Maximum Dimensions: Boats must be no larger than 6 inches wide by 12 inches long.

• Engine Power: Wind power only! Captains will use pure lung power to blow their boats down our official, inflatable Raingutter Regatta tracks.

• Ship's Name: Every vessel needs an identity! Make sure your Scout names their boat and labels it clearly on the hull or sail.

The Dry Dock Craft Station Got an unexpected leak during testing? Need to tweak a sail? Or maybe you didn't get to finish building beforehand? We will have a fully stocked Craft Station right on-site! Scouts can drop by to modify their ships, tune up their designs, or finish building their boat before heat one.

Schedule & Race Order Note for Parents We will be running heats with our younger Dens racing first! Because of this format, please be aware that races for our older Dens may run a little past our usual 8:00 PM dismissal time.
