Pack 372's is full this year. Please check beascout.org to find another pack with availability. --->
This page contains the onboarding information for scouts and parents who have completed the membership application and have officially joined Pack 372.
If you're still researching if Pack 372 is right for you and your family, have a look at our Prospective Member information page.
If you have completed the online membership registration and have paid the membership fees you will receive an email from the Cubmaster connecting you with the appropriate den leader(s). The Den Leader will add you to the den email list and will let you know when the next den meeting is.
Welcome to the pack! The "Welcome! New Cub Scout Family" brochure is designed to help new families understand the basics of Cub Scouting when they first join. It's a quick read!
We’d love to have all adults connected to scouts in Pack 372 complete the Family Talent & Resources Survey. This form is designed for the adults in the pack community to share personal and professional interests which may overlap with supporting the activities of the Pack.
All of the Pack events are listed on the Pack Calendar. To add this calendar to your own calendar system, click on the "Add to Google Calendar" link in the lower left corner of the calendar. This does not commit you to these events, it just allows them to show up in your own calendar system. It's a great way to manage planning family events to avoid overlapping with existing pack events. This calendar only shows the pack level events, not the den events. Each den has its own calendar maintained by the Den Leader—ask them to send a link. There are also calendars to show Council & District events. (What are the Council and District?)
The pack dues are separate from the National Membership Registration which you already paid when registering your scout via the online form at my.scouting.org. These dues are determined by the costs of running the pack programs including buying the awards the scouts earn and the supplies for the activities, like rocket kits and Pinewood Derby kits.
New members to Pack 372 do not have to pay pack dues during their first year in the program. Once a member has completed the scouting year (in June), returning members will be asked to pay their pack dues when they return to the program in the fall. Pack dues can vary, but they have been around $200 per scout for the past few years.
Finances should never be a limitation to enjoy the benefits of the scouting program. Each fall the pack runs a pack fundraiser to subsidize these dues. The pack fundraiser also provides an opportunity to have the National Membership Registration fee reimbursed. Please email treasurer@pack372.org for more information.
Keep track of your scout’s advancement as well as log and track their hiking, camping, and service time achievements here: https://advancements.scouting.org/ or via the free Scouting App. Non-scouting hiking, camping, and service time can be logged as well. More information and training available at the scout help center.
As mentioned on the Prospective Member information page, scouting is a uniformed activity and it is one of the methods of the program. All members, youth and adults, are expected to wear the proper uniform.
Youth Uniforms: Most Cub Scouts wear a blue button down scout shirt. Exceptions include the youngest scouts (Kindergartners) who wear a Lion Scout T-Shirt (no patches) and the oldest scouts (5th Graders) who wear a khaki button down scout shirt with blue shoulder loops. The Scouting America policy book has more insights to why the uniform is a method of the Scouting America program.
Adult Uniforms: Adult leaders who have completed the online registration and Safeguarding Youth Training wear the khaki button down scout shirt with blue shoulder loops. If you were a scout growing up the Arrow of Light and Eagle Scout awards can be worn as knots on the adult uniform.
All of the required uniform elements for adults and youth as well as the handbooks can be purchased locally at McGuckin's. These items can all also be purchased at the Scout Shop (in Loveland or Denver), or ordered online. The Pack may also have some second-hand uniforms and elements available. Inventory is dependent upon what is donated and the Den Leader can help locate these items.
Pack 372 provides a few of the uniform pieces (do not buy these):
Pack 372 Numerals (one per member: adult or youth)
Rank specific neckerchief (changes each year)
borrowed from the pack; if you want to keep it, then buy it
Rank and Adventure Awards
Webelos Tri-color (4th & 5th grade only)
Class-B uniform: Pack 372 T-shirt for youth members
The scout/family provide the following themselves:
Class-A uniform: Button down Scout Shirt or Lion Scout T-shirt
Adventure West Council Shoulder Patch (if you go to the Denver store, be sure to specify the Adventure West Council patch—Denver is in a different council)
Den number patch (ask your den leader for your den number)
Cub Scout Belt (to hold belt loop adventure awards)
Pants/shorts with belt loops: Navy/jeans (blue shirt) or Green (khaki shirt)
Optional Uniform Items:
Neckerchief Slide (any appropriate neckerchief slide can be used; i.e. cub scouts shouldn't wear an Eagle Scout slide)
Official Scout Pants/Shorts/Skorts; socks; jackets; etc
Scouts or adults can sew the patches on themselves following the Cub Scout Insignia Instructions. Some of the Scout Shops offer patch sewing services as does SewBo, a sewing shop in South Boulder.
All cub scouts start with the fundamentals of scouting by earning the Bobcat Adventure Award. The requirements are found in each of the rank specific scout handbooks as well as on the Cub Scout Adventures page at scouting.org. You can also start working on any of the elective adventures listed on the Adventures page for your scout's rank. Leave the required adventures for the den meetings—they're easier to do as a group.
The pack is run entirely by adult volunteers. The Cubmaster, Den Leaders, Committee Members, and Event Coordinators are almost entirely parents of the current youth members.
All scouting gatherings require two adult members who are REGISTERED with the pack to comply with the two-deep leadership Youth Protection requirement. A scout leader and a non-registered adult does not fulfill this safety obligation.
This is why we ask one adult from each family to register as an adult member. This way, it will be very unlikely that any scouting events need to be canceled because of a lack of registered leadership. The cost is around $100/year. If you have questions ask your Den Leader, Cubmaster, or any other registered adult (they're probably wearing a scout uniform 😉 ). At the very least, this will support pack events to comply with the two-deep leadership Youth Protection requirement.
Registering as an adult leader with the pack does not mean you have to wear a uniform or take on any other jobs in the pack. However, to wear the uniform you do need to be a registered adult member. This is encouraged as it helps set the example for the scouts who are required to wear their uniform.
An outline of key jobs to ensure Pack 372 is able to safely run all of the events, activities, and programming outlined by the Pack Committee can be found on the Pack 372 Jobs Roster. You do not need to be a registered member for many of the jobs. If you're new to the pack, consider being one of the assistants to an activity to learn the ropes. Each family is expected to fulfill at least one of the roles on the Jobs Roster linked above.
