What is Scout Sunday?
Scout Sunday is a special day set aside each year to recognize the contributions of Scouting within local faith communities. It’s an opportunity for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and adult leaders to attend services in uniform, reflect on the Scout Law’s call to be Reverent, and demonstrate their commitment to both faith and service.
Scout Sunday is typically celebrated on the Sunday before February 8th, the anniversary of Scouting in the United States. However, individual churches may choose a different Sunday that better fits their calendar.
Participation in Scout Sunday helps:
Strengthen the relationship between Scouting and your place of worship
Celebrate the role faith plays in a Scout’s life
Recognize Scouts and leaders in front of the congregation
Encourage youth to live out their values in both words and actions
Whether your family attends regularly or occasionally, all are welcome to join in this moment of reflection and celebration. Some churches may invite Scouts to take part in the service by reading a prayer, greeting guests, or helping with music—each church does it a little differently.
How to Participate
All you need to do to participate in Scout Sunday is wear your Class A Scout uniform* to your place of worship on the designated date. It’s a simple but meaningful way to show your Scouting spirit and honor the Scout Law’s call to be Reverent.
Want to do more? Many churches offer opportunities for Scouts to take an active role in the service—such as greeting guests, helping with collection, or helping to re-organize the pews post service. If your Scout would like to participate in this way, please fill out the interest form below:

We’ll coordinate with church leadership to assign roles and provide any guidance needed.
At some locations, we also have the chance to host a booth after the service to share more about Pack 1402 and Cub Scouts with interested families. This is a great opportunity to grow Scouting and give your Scout a chance to practice leadership and public speaking. The after-service booth typically includes an information table about Cub Scouts, sign-up sheets, and small giveaways or handouts to engage visitors and answer questions.
Let us know how you'd like to participate—and thank you for helping make Scout Sunday a success!
*If you're unsure of what to wear, please check with your Den leader.
