Dear, Readers–
Take us somewhere. With our motto in mind, consider this editor’s note a roadmap for issue #28. Notice how we open with one of Ann Bauleke’s “Black Walnut Tales” but weave her sketches throughout the magazine. Instead of printing all the tales together, we wanted her characters to live across the issue, creating a sense of community as you read. By the time you meet Tony who “steps outside” the café at the end of the issue, you’ll have encountered other great writing across multiple genres, hopefully seeing how they all speak to each other through art and imagination.
It takes a community, too, to pull a magazine together, from our Managing and Senior Editors, Grace Bland and Abby Fisher, and Jung Hae Chae and Désirée Zamorano, to Keilyn Futter who mastered this year’s layout specifications. A big thank you to our entire staff and the writers and artists who shared their work with us. Happy reading!
