The 100 Snack Mix

Print the 100 grid

This is a recipe that is all about counting! Include all family members to get a good variety of snacks. Each person can count out 100 pieces their snack contribution, then mixes it in a bowl. If the items are small enough, you can lay them right on the grid to keep track. For example, your grown up can count 100 raisins, big brother can count out 100 goldfish, you can count 100 M&M’s. Here are some snack ideas to help you get started.

Cheerios raisins pretzels
goldfish craisins nuts
Chex cereal dried fruit popcorn
chocolate chips pumpkin seeds M&M’s

Literacy

Magazine recycling

For this project all you need is glue (white or glue stick), scissors and blank paper. This activity can be done in many creative ways

1.) A word or name can be written in large letters on a paper, and small pieces of magazine can be glued along the lines of each letter.

2.) Full pictures can be cut out of old magazines to create a collage.

3.) Different facial features can be glued together to make a silly face, or animal body parts can mismatched

4.) A scene can be created to illustrate an imaginative story

Science

Popcorn science

Young minds can wrap around HUGE concepts. With this activity young scientists can learn about Volume, Matter, as well as physical vs chemical change. Popcorn Science takes you step by step through these concepts so even the less science minded of us might learn something new!

While you investigate popcorn science, here is a brief description about WHY popcorn pops the way it does

Popcorn Math and Science Experiments for children.

Art

How to Draw

Add detail and write a story about where the boat is going and what problem and solution the characters have during their journey.

Recycle Town!

I brought out some old friends today, do you recognize them? I wanted to show you some creative ways to use reusable materials again. I made a fortress out of some paper products that I had laying around, penguin and rooster are guarding its gate. In the second picture I made a pool house and pool, can you see the cheetah getting ready to dive off the diving board? What can you make out of items from your recycling bin?

Another Remida Creation!

Here is an idea to make a top using old cd’s, water bottle lids and a marble. Use Sharpies to decorate the non-printed side of a cd. Get a grown-up to help you hot glue the bottle lid over the cd hole. Now flip the cd over and glue the marble in the cd hole opposite the lid. To make your top spin, simply grab the lid and give it a twirl!

Indoor/Outdoor Fun

You’ll need sharp eyes for this scavenger hunt!
