Monday May 4

Story Time: The Three Bears, read by Ms. Laurel


Creative Exploration:
3 Bears Puppets

Create puppets using popsicle sticks or straws to retell the story.

Make oatmeal, which is a type of porridge (Recipe)


Numeracy:
Goldilocks Math- Put Items in Order

· Smallest to Largest
· Shortest to Tallest
· Cold to Hot (cups of water with different temperatures)
· Shortest to Longest
· Soft to Hard


Literacy:

Letter U

Say the sound. Think of words that start with that letter.

U is for Umbrella

Hunt for the letter U in the book you read today

Use a partner. Write the letter U on each other’s back.


Movement:

Teddy Bear Teddy Bear Movement Poem

Read & act out poem several times to memorize the poem and movements.


Sensory:
Flour Sensory

Add several cups of flour to your bin or shallow tote

Materials: spoons, bowls, kitchen sifter or strainer

Numeracy: Have a Teddy Bear Picnic!

Lay out a blanket

Provide dishes, snacks and water

Have your child decide how many guests (stuffed animals and people) are coming to their teddy bear picnic.

Have your child “set” a spot for the amount. This helps younger children develop 1:1 correspondence. Older children can be asked to give each guest a certain amount of snack. (Give everyone two crackers, how many total crackers do we need?)

Say the sound. Think of words that start with that sound
V is for Volcano
Make a V with your hands
Gather nature materials to create a V

Make Cloud Dough
Add baby oil to your flour to make cloud dough! Preschoolers LOVE this sensory! Soft & moldable.

Recipe: Ratio of flour to baby oil is 8:1

Wednesday May 6

Creative Exploration:
Gummy Bear Science
Place a gummy bear in a cup of water overnight. Take the gummy bear out of the water and observe/discuss the changes.

Numeracy: 10 in the Bed Math Game

Have your child color and cut out bears

Do we have all 10?


Literacy:
Letter W

Say the sound. Think of words that start with that sound

W is for Watermelon

Write W using sidewalk chalk

Make a W with your hands


Movement:
Build a cave to hibernate in.

Walk like a bear (on hands & feet) while you forage for food before you spend most of winter hibernating.

Put stuffed bears or bear artwork in your front window. Go for a walk around your neighborhood. Has anyone else put bears in their windows for kids to find?
