Art and/or Science: Does it float?
Gather items from around your house that are made of different materials. Fill a bathtub or large bin with water. Make predictions about the object. Do you think this will sink or float? Why? Test the object. Did the object act how you expected when placed in water?

Story Time: There’s Always Room for One More, read by Ms. Laurel
Art and/or Science: Design a Boat
Use recycled materials and objects around your home to build a boat! Test it in water to see if it floats. Can it carry weight? Add coins or other small objects to see what it takes to sink your boat!

Numeracy: Explore Measuring with Water
Use liquid measuring cups and equal sized clear containers. Fill a container with 1 cup of water. Fill another container with ½ cup of water. Talk about what “half” means. Add another ½ cup of water to the container holding ½ cup. Do the two containers have equal amounts of water?

Art and/or Science: Ice Sculpture
Make colorful ice cubes using food coloring or paint mixed with water. Use ice cube trays & plastic containers for different shapes & sizes. Once frozen, build with your ice cubes!

On a dry day outside, practice writing your name, the ABC’s or sight words on your sidewalk using water and a paintbrush.
Journal Entry Prompt:
We use water in many different ways. We need to drink water to keep our bodies healthy. We use it to grow our plants. We also enjoy playing, bathing and swimming in water. Why is water important to you? What do you like best about water?

Movement: Have an Ocean Dance Party! Act out movements of fish swimming, seaweed swaying, & crabs crawling.

Add bubbles to the water with dish soap or bubble bath. Add a scrub brush & toys that need a bath
