Monday April 6

Story Time: Listen to the book, Bean, by David Schwartz, read by Ms. Laurel

Listen to the book, And the Good Brown Earth, read by Ms. Julie

Art/Science: Plant a Seed in a Jar! See Seed Science Instructions page.

Numeracy: Feed the Bunnies Game-

Have your child color & cut out their bunnies

Do we have all 10?

Literacy Work: Letter A
-Say the short A sound (words that use the short A are apple & ant). Think of words that start with that letter.

Pick Two Activities:
-A is for Ant Coloring Sheet
-Make an A with playdoh
-Use finger to draw A into rice on a tray

Movement: Practice hopping with both feet at the same time like a bunny. Hop over objects using this bunny hop.

Sensory : Fill a bin or shallow tote or children’s water table with several cups of rice.

Material: Bowls & Spoons

Tuesday April 7

Story Time: Listen to the book, The Spring Rabbit, by Joyce Dunbar and read by Ms. Laurel

Art/Science: Signs of Spring Hunt

Print out Signs of Spring. Go for a Nature Walk (your neighborhood will work!) and try to find everything on the chart. Have your child keep track of what they have found by crossing it out.

Put in order from 1-10

Have your child “feed” the bunny by placing the correct number of small objects on the bunny card

Literacy Work: Letter B
-Say the sound. Think of words that start with that sound

Pick Two Activities:
-B is for Butterfly coloring sheet
-Hunt for the letter B in magazines/junk mail
-Write the letter B; add a backwards B on the other side to make a butterfly. B is for Butterfly!

Movement:Cosmic Yoga: Arnold the Ant story

Material: Measuring cups & muffin tin

Wednesday April 8

Story Time: Listen to the book, Tiny Seed, by Eric Carle read by Ms. Laurel

Art/Science: Make a Parts of a Plant poster
1. Print Parts of a Plant Template
2. Have your child color the parts of the plant
3. Have your child cut out the parts of the plant
4. Have your child arrange & glue the parts of the plant on paper
5. Draw or glue pieces of yarn for the roots
6. Have your child glue or write the words near each part of the plant

Thursday April 9

Story Time: Listen to the story, A Rainbow Garden, by Lois Elhert, read by Ms. Laurel

Art/Science: Draw a rainbow garden!

1. Use all the colors of the rainbow to draw a picture of a Rainbow Garden. Try to keep track of the order of the rainbow! (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple)

2. Literacy Extension: Add some characters to your artwork. Write a story that takes place at your rainbow garden.

Friday April 10

Story Time: Listen to the story, A Pill Bug's Life, by John Himmelman, read by Ms. Laurel

Art/Science: Be a Pill Bug Scientist
1. Go outside and look under rocks, or any place that would trap moisture for the rollie pollie to be able to breath
2. Hold the rollie pollie gently while observing his body shape and details
3. Draw a picture of the rollie pollie. Make sure to include all the details you noticed while making your observations
4. Label the body parts of the rollie pollie (shell, legs, antennae, eyes)

*Extension: Make a pill bug habitat. Remember that they need to stay moist so include a layer of damp soil and wet dead leaves for them to crawl under and eat

Numeracy: Seed Science Tally
How many days has your seed been in the jar?

Feed the Bunny Extension: Use the bunnies and small objects to practice adding amounts.

Literacy Work: Letter E
-Say the sound. Think of words that start with that sound.

Pick Two Activities:
-E is for Egg Coloring
-Write the letter E while counting the 3 lines coming out
-Make an E with your body

Movement:Freeze Dance Party! Stop the music throughout the song-everybody must freeze when the music stops!

Sensory : Rice Sensory: Larger objects added to remove with tweezers/tongs
