Ghost Net Landscape Workshop
What are ghost nets?
Fishing nets and gear that have been lost or left in the ocean by fishermen.
- Every year they are responsible for trapping and killing millions of marine animals (turtles, fish dolphins, live coral).
- Ghost nets make up 46% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Emily Miller
Portland based artist working who creates art with ghost nets found along the coast.
Ghost net Landscape exhibit at Pacific University October 7th- 31st.
Worked along side her to create awareness of ghost nets.
Our project:
Bringing awareness to the scope and reality of ocean fishing gear pollution
Provide individuals with alternative sustainable options as well as brands and organizations to support in this cause
We hosted a workshop and presentation next to Emily's exhibit where people can learn about ghost nets and make their own crafts.
