Striving to bring people together from the Pacific Rim, the conference is structured to encourage people to discuss, engage, and share practical and theoretical ideas. By using a common context, the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, the unique perspectives of conference attendees will be honored and given a platform. The conference will also be conducted with a spirit of equity by employing the Māori concept of “ako” which is the same word for learning and teaching thereby acknowledging our dual, and often simultaneous roles as learners and teachers.
Conference contributors will be invited to submit presentations that link their own situations of resilience and considerations of how that relates to four of the SDGs--3: Good Health and Well Being, 4: Quality Education, 10: Reduced Inequalities, and 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Thus, contributors will be invited to define and share current connections between resilience and an SDG(s) or present more of a blue skies scenario as to what might be possible. Within the overall theme of resilience, we encourage attendees to share their unique contexts within these four SDGs.
