How to register for the ESL Placement Test
All ESL Placement Test registration is at our Greendell campus located at 4120 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
ESL Placement Test registration is in-person only. No phone registration. No online registration.
There is NO ESL Placement Test registration at Palo Alto High School.
ESL placement test dates for Fall 2026, Quarter 1:
☀️MORNING TESTING
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Test Date: Friday August 7 Full and closed
Monday August 10 Full and closed
Friday August 14 Full and closed

🌓EVENING TESTING
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Test Date: Wednesday August 5 Full and closed

How can I take a free ESL (English) class at Palo Alto Adult School?
1.Register to take the ESL (English) Placement Test.
All new students must take the ESL Placement Test before they join a class.
The next ESL Placement Test Registration will be on Friday September 25, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.. at our Greendell campus: 4120 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
When you register to take the test, you will choose a test date.
Each person may register a maximum of two people.
2.Take the Placement Test.
Take the test on your test day.
The test will take about three hours.
After you take the test, you can choose your English class: in person or online, morning or evening.
3. Start your English class!
** Required: Student must have their own valid email address and contact phone number
