Saskatchewan Fishing Regulations in effect. Each angler must have in his/her possession a valid Saskatchewan angling license (if required by law)
Athletes in Action and tournament officials are not responsible for death, injury, damage liability, theft or fire to any contestants.
Open to all ages. Contestants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Coaching is allowed, but no physical help is allowed.
Children under 12 can choose to register for the main event or may instead register for the sub tournament for kids only. (See details below)
Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch and Burbot are eligible.
Holes will be pre-drilled. However, if a contestant chooses, they may drill their own hole/s prior to tournament start time. (Only one hole may be used per contestant unless a second hole is purchased.) The hole must be within the designated tournament area and not within 10 feet of another hole.
The derby is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Contestants will be allowed in the designated area prior to start time to get situated but are required to wait until 12:00 before dropping their lines. A horn or other noise will indicate the start of the Derby.
Portable ice tents, tarps, windbreaks will be allowed when weather is less than favorable. (organizers discretion) No wooden or lockable huts allowed.
No electronic devices will be allowed.
Prize money will be a minimum 50% of registration fees.
1st place 50%
2nd place 35%
3rd place 15%
Other prize: Smallest, First, Last and Most TBD
Prizes will be based on heaviest fish in weight to lightest fish in weight.
In case of a tie:
If it is a cash prize. Money will be divided equally.
For all other prizes:
the longer fish in length will win
If still tied cards will be cut with the highest card winning. Aces will be considered high.
All fish are to be weighed and measured at the weigh-in station located on the ice.
Derby contestants must fish in the area designated and will require to have his/her ticket visible at all times. Only paid contestants and derby officials will be allowed to enter the fishing area.
No motorized vehicles will be allowed in the derby area, except for derby officials.
Absolutely no pets in the fishing area.
A horn will be sounded at 12:00 p.m. to indicate the start time and at 4:00 p.m. to indicate the stop time. No late fish will be accepted or weighed. Any fish or portion of fish visible above the ice at the final horn will be deemed caught. This must be witnessed by a tournament official. PLEASE HAVE WATER IN THE CONTAINER AS THIS IS A CATCH AND RELEASE CONTEST.
All participants must do their utmost to exhibit good sportsmanship and are responsible for their own litter. Trash bags will be available.
All fish brought to the weigh-in-station will be released by the organizing committee.
All fish must be brought to the weigh-in station immediately and alive.
Any fish brought to the weigh-in station that cannot be released alive will not be weighed.
Prizes will be awarded at the close of the derby as soon as calculations are complete. Winners MUST be in attendance to claim prizes.
Should no entry qualify for prizes, a draw will be held to determine prize winners.
The organizing committee may at any time before, during or after the event change the event format if so required.
Pictures of prizes may vary from those shown on the poster.
All rule in the main tournament will be in force for the Kids Sub-Derby except for the following:
Entry fee will be $15
Child must be supervised at all times.
Only one hole may be fished from.
Coaching is allowed but no physical help from others.
Prize list will be separate from the main tournament.
