BR Schools

Engaging future generations in river health is important now more than ever.

The schools component of our program is highly valued by our partnership and the community. There are currently four schools engaged in the Bellingen Riverwatch program and we hope to engage another school this year.

“I like learning how to do all the tests. And to help the turtles. I had a lot of fun.”

"Increasing the “real science” learning in their curriculum, helps to develop learners that become environmentally aware citizens.

An important outcome is evident : the growth of the students’ mindset.

Students are learning to become successful team players; to discuss and consider ramifications of environmental impacts they may be aiding; to look at the world in a more global manner and to take home some of this knowledge. In short, they are looking beyond themselves and considering others."

- Teacher, Orama Public School
