Student Resident Advisors (RAs) live in the residence halls. These upper-division students are attending Oxy and have training to support their peers. The Resident Advisors are supervised by full-time, professional Resident Directors.

Enroll and maintain at least 12 academic credits per semester. In the case of special circumstances, you should speak with REHS regarding an exception.
Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
Remain in good standing both academically and judicially.
Should an RA fail to maintain the above standards, they may be placed on probation in the RA position or suspended from employment for at least one semester. If their GPA does not increase, they will be removed from the position.
The RA position is an appointment of 15-20 hours per week.
All RAs must sign up to be on call for one break duty shift during the academic year.
RAs build community and rapport with residents, through consistency and continuity. Therefore, priority will be given to students that can commit to the position for a full academic year.
Participate in Fall/Spring Training, Move-In/Opening Days, Welcome Week activities, and Building Closing Days.
Fall training is usually slated to begin 2 weeks before move-in. You must be present the entire time.
Spring Training is usually slated to begin 1 week before the start of classes. You must be present the entire time.
Attend all RA staff meetings on Wednesdays from 8-9:30pm. RA staff meetings are mandatory. RAs who cannot consistently attend staff meetings are ineligible for the RA position.
Complete an application
Application includes short-answer response questions.
If application meets the score threshold, New RA candidates will be invited to an interview.
Interview is slated to last 30 minutes.
You will be interviewed by a current RA and a professional staff member.
If interview meets the score threshold, New RA candidates will be offered an RA position or an alternate position
You will have an opportunity to accept or decline. If you decline you will be removed from both the RA and alternate pool.
If candidate accepts offer they will attend Signing Day.
You will sign your contract and meet your team!
