Dr. Amemiya, director of the Development of Thinking (DoT) Lab, specializes in children's social, cognitive, and academic development. She received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she trained in developmental and educational psychology labs. Her dissertation research was funded by the National Academy of Education Dissertation Fellowship. Dr. Amemiya then completed a National Institutes of Health F32 fellowship at UC San Diego and a National Science Foundation SBE fellowship at the University of Chicago. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Occidental College, where she enjoys working closely with undergraduate students in both teaching and research.
