Most libraries follow the CREW method and use MUSTIE to weed out items from their collections.

C: Continuous

R: Review

E: Evaluation

W: Weeding

M: Misleading (and/or factually inaccurate)

U: Ugly (worn and beyond mending/rebinding)

S: Superseded (by a new edition or by a much better book on the subject)

T: Trivial (has no discernible literary or scientific merit)

I: Irrelevant to the needs and interests of the library's community

E: The material is Easily obtainable from another library
