Dale Mc Alpine was born in Fontana, California, and raised in Ventura, California. Dale attended Buena High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California Lutheran University and a Liberal Arts Degree from Ventura College.
Dale began his career in law enforcement in 1999 as a Police Cadet for the City of Ventura. In 2003, he was hired as a Police Officer with the Oxnard Police Department. Dale has worked many diverse assignments, including Patrol Officer, Bicycle Team Member, Field Training Officer, Field Training Coordinator, Domestic Violence Investigator, Sexual Assault Investigator, District Officer, and District Coordinator.
In 2017, Dale was promoted to Sergeant and assigned as a patrol supervisor. In 2020, Dale was assigned as the Patrol Support Sergeant overseeing the Booking Facility, Animal Safety, and Patrol Fleet Management. In 2021, Dale was assigned to the Professional Standards Division as an Internal Affairs Sergeant. In 2023, Dale was assigned as the supervisor of the Family Protection Unit, overseeing investigations of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse, missing persons, sex registrants, and child abuse.
In 2025, Dale was promoted to Commander and is currently assigned as the Patrol Support Services Commander. Dale oversees the Firearms Alcohol Tobacco Cannabis Compliance Unit, booking facility, traffic unit, professional patrol support staff, animal safety, and the field services vehicle fleet.
