Fat Bear Week is the annual celebration of the fat reserves that brown bears of Katmai National Park put on before they go into hibernation. Each year, the National Park Service hosts a tournament bracket where the public will vote on which bear they think is larger than the other. This year, the Treehouse will be hosting an OWU-specific tournament.
Our kick off will be on Sept. 30th from 6:30-8:00 at the Tree House (110a Rowland Avenue). We will have bear-themed cookies for decorating, bracelet making, and rock painting and will stream the live introduction and bracket reveal of Fat Bear Week.
Brackets are due to akcharlton@owu.edu by 12:00 pm on October 2nd.
Voting occurs from October 2nd-8th.
The winner will receive a bear-themed item and a donation in their name to the World Wildlife Fund's global conservation efforts, an organization that supports Alaska's grizzly bears.
The bracket will be posted at this link. However, the bracket will also be posted here when it is revealed.
