For Parents

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for entrusting me with your children! I am thrilled to be guiding them through this exciting journey of self-discovery and music-making. My aim in the music classroom is to create a student-centered environment where all voices are heard, all opinions are honored, and students feel empowered to learn, grow, and most importantly to create music. My curriculum is 3-pronged. I am educating not just the Student Performer, but also the Student Composer and the Student Listener. Performing, composing, and listening are skills to be honed, and are all integral to becoming fluent in the language of music. Your child will experience all three of these components in the music classroom this year.

I aim to create a space for students where discipline, community, and leadership are the three pillars that build the foundation. With discipline, students can remain focused on being their best selves. By remembering that we are a classroom community, in a larger school community, students can remember to look out for each other, while never being afraid to reach out for help and support when needed. By striving for leadership, students are aware that they can positively influence those around them in many ways, making our school community stronger than ever. By bringing these three ideals into our music-making experience, we use music for the greater good!

I urge you to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have! I am always happy to chat. I look forward to working with you and your children in the years to come!

Musically yours,

Henry Green | hgreen@owms.org
