Practice beyond the classroom is an important aspect in the education of each student. It reinforces what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, expands learning, teaches responsibility, reviews previously learned material, and helps students acquire positive study habits. Please make sure homework is completed on time.
Students will have math homework daily, including Friday. Time may be allotted in class to begin the assignment. It is expected that the student will complete the assignment by the beginning of the period the next day, unless otherwise indicated.
Homework is to be in a spiral notebook or on a worksheet, and will be checked daily for:
Completeness with all work shown (not just answers)
ALL the problems should be attempted to the best of the student's ability. No problems left blank.
Work completed in pencil only (no ink pen) and is in the proper format
Each homework assignment will be worth 10 points. Assignments that show minimal work/effort will need to be re-done and will receive half credit once completed correctly.
Assignments should take students 15-30 minutes to complete (depending on student's ability).
Assignments become homework if they are not completed in class.
Assignments from the textbook will be done online to check their answers, but students will still need to show their work and calculations in their notebook, even if they successfully submitted it online. Otherwise, it will be considered missing until the work has been shown and will then receive late credit.
Assignments can be in the form of worksheets/handouts. All work and calculations used must be shown on the handout. If there is not enough room to show work on the handout, students may use additional line paper to show their work. Otherwise, it will be considered missing until the work has been shown and will receive late credit.
To ensure your student is completing and turning in his/her assignments please check your student's homework calendar daily for blue “YES” stamps. This means the work was completed on time. If there is a red "DUE" stamp on the calendar, then that assignment is still missing. If there is an “YES” stamp covering a “DUE” stamp, then that assignment was turned in late and was completed for half credit. Extra calendars may also be printed the classroom Google folder, if needed.
If a student loses a printed assignment, they should print a new copy from the class google drive or from the portal.
