The momentum award is for districts and buildings that have demonstrated outstanding improvement in achievement while also continuing to show growth. The momentum award is for districts and buildings that have improved their performance index by 3 or more points from the previous report card to the newly released report card AND received a value-added Progress rating of 4 or more stars. Districts and buildings are not eligible for this award if they received an overall rating of 5 stars.Â

The National Blue-Ribbon Schools Program (NBRS) is a national recognition program, honoring elementary, middle, and high schools in the United States that are making significant progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups or whose students achieve high overall academic excellence. Through this program, the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) recognizes and celebrates these schools, while providing a model that all students can reach high levels of achievement.
The National Title I Association annually recognizes up to two Title I schools from each state for their outstanding achievements in education. Ohio nominates schools that demonstrate a wide array of strengths, including team approaches to teaching and learning, focused professional development opportunities for staff, individualized programs for student success, and strong partnerships between the school, parents and the community
