Outsiders' Road to Sustainability & Future Mission
The multi-part plan to make OFAS a Sustainable Sanctuary & Community Resource
Mission of the projects
This multi-part plan maps out how Outsider's Farm & Sanctuary can become a financially sustainable animal sanctuary.
Once sustainable, we strive to increase our Community Resources: re-open rescue intake; spay/neutering and medical assistance for family's with pigs in need, temporary fostering for families in crisis, potbelly pig education to prevent overbreeding, and more.
Effort 1- Pay off Shed Payments
We currently owe approximately $51,000 in total for 9 sheds that are lease to own, if paid off early.
Our current monthly payments add up to $2954/month.
Our Home Free Shed fundraisers aim to pay off these leased early, clearing up our monthly overhead costs and avoiding costly interest fees.
Effort 2- Increase Monthly Recurring Donations- Animal Sponsorships
Obtaining more recurring monthly donations by appealing to our supporter's desire to have personal connections with individual pigs and other animal residents. Monthly sponsorships will include tiered incentives like quarterly animal updates, videos/photos.
Effort 3- Expand fencing/ Gravel Pathways
By expanding the fencing into our wooded areas, we will increase daily enrichment for the pigs, as well as provide much needed shaded areas in the hot GA summers.
Expanding their areas also creates space/room for new gravel pathways to be created throughout the current barn yards. These gravel pathways will be fenced off and wide enough for save delivery of daily food/water, safe future guest tours, and tractor access to remote areas.
Effort 4- Onsite Parking & Guest Center for Events
Creating a designated visitor parking area and visitor center/sheltered area, with plumbing and electricity allows the sanctuary to offer paid tours, onsite fundraising events, and become a LEAP educational partner. The current space is not feasible for visitors to safely park and tour the property.
Effort 5- Boarding & Fostering Facility
The ability to offer safe & secure Boarding for pigs and other farm animals is a great future revenue stream for the sanctuary.
Additionally, having a designated boarding barn yard will allow OFAS to offer Fostering to the animals of families in crisis & grant opportunities through Purina's Purple Lease Project (domestic abuse/shelter assistance)
Effort 6- Vegan Rental RV/Camp Sites
With proper electricity and plumbing onsite, as well as additional cleared areas on the property, vegan-friendly Camping on-site is a potential revenue stream.
Rental campsite spaces will have access to safe/secure areas to interact with the rescue animals with supervision.
Effort 7- Adoption Program
Re-vamp the Adoption program. While this program has always been a challenge, with applications/home checks to ensure the safety and long term well-being of our adoptable pigs, cats, and dogs, with more community outreach and education, we hope to have a successful program in place, opening up more opportunity for future Grants.
Effort 8- Monthly/Quarte-rly Fundraising Events
With the guest parking and gravel road/walking paths in place, we will create engaging community on-site activities, for a donation, to enrich our animals' socialization and also educate the community about our pigs, and other farm animals, veganism, compassion, and animal rescue.
