Kai thought he was just a normal kid, with a normal pet dog, and a normal father. Follow Kai as he leaves Earth behind and starts to discover the truth about himself and his family. In this first book of the series, Kai and his pet "dog" travel to Planet 0404 and take their first steps on their quest to stop Lucifer.
"Kai and Planet 0404" is a short novel created with TPRS/CI in mind. That being said it, I hope it will be a useful resource for anyone looking for study/reading materials in Japanese. The key features of the book are:
*The unique word count does not include particles, or Katakana(words taken from English). Multiple conjugations of the same verb are only counted as 1 unique word. There is some judgement involved in counting "unique" words. This number represents my honest effort to provide an accurate count, but others may come to a slightly higher or lower number. If you would like to check for yourself, please feel free to check out the glossary(available below) before purchasing the novel.
Check out this excerpt from the beginning of the book. This should give you a good idea of this novel's Japanese difficulty level. Please note, the beginning of the book will actually be the most difficult. As I've limited and reused vocab as much as possible, you'll find the book gets easier as you start to recognize some of the vocab used. I didn't want to include any spoilers, so this is just the very beginning of the book. The more exciting space adventure side of things comes a little later.

Use this glossary to evaluate the Japanese level of this novel, or as a handy resource after you buy the novel. While the complete glossary is included at the end of the novel, I thought some people may appreciate a full page printable version that you can use as an alternative to flipping to the back of the novel. Try not to be intimidated by the number of words in the glossary. Please keep in mind that I have included all the different verb conjugations as separate entries. So for example, there are 16 different forms of the verb "to go" included in the glossary.
