About this activity
Join Ishvari at Heal Yoga for to explore Kirtan! Kirtan is a form of collective chanting and singing, rooted in the tradition of Yoga.
All are welcome - you don’t need a perfect singing voice to join, just a sense of curiosity. We’ll begin with an introduction to the practice of Kirtan, enjoy some music together and end with a brief meditation and conversation. Your presence is warmly welcomed—come, sing, meditate, and connect with us!
Structure:
Introduction to Kirtan (15 mins): A brief talk on what Kirtan is, its roots in Yoga and the benefits of practicing it
Chanting Session (1 hour): Led by myself and Cheri, where everyone can participate in the call-and-response chanting.
Meditation & Sharing (15 mins): A short meditation following the chanting, and then an opportunity for participants to share their experiences.

/ Ishvari Belanger, Yoga teacher, somatic practitioner & singer
Ishvari found yoga during her university studies in philosophy and Eastern religions. Realizing that the practice brought her more fulfillment than theory, she went to India to fully immerse herself. For the past 10 years, Ishvari has taught yoga and continued her studies in yoga, meditation, trauma-informed care, TCM, communication and somatic healing. She is part of Anuttara Ashram’s YTT faculty. She is delighted to share music and lead call-and-response kirtan. She hopes to continue to create spaces for connection, care and community.
