The purpose of the PD series is to support teachers’ practices around our collective instructional focus on scaffolding for rigor in service of improving students’ grade level mastery. We utilize culturally responsive teaching practices to cultivate positive classrooms, support instructional planning for academic language criteria and content knowledge, support facilitating effective student discourse, and how to effectively assess student learning. These strategies are closely tied to the overall vision, goals, and aligned tier 1 strategies outlined in the Scaffolding for Rigor playbook for the middle and high school networks.

A signature project is standards-aligned, memorable, rigorous, and has an equivalent in the creative workplace. It could be a grade-level culminating project (like Senior Capstone) or centered around an important grade-level learning outcome. by creating a teacher exemplar artwork and identifying focus artists to support the project instruction. Teachers will come away from this interactive day of creation and reflection with the tools to teach their project using high-quality PBL elements.
There will also be an identical workshop in the afternoon If there's enough demand.

Join us and get officially trained on OUSD’s PTHV model that focuses on: Relational connection, Building capacity of families, and staff for partnership, Collaboration, and is Linked to student learning.
