Artist Statement

I am a student at skyline high school in Oakland CA. I focus on painting and drawing people and wildlife. Most things I create are focused on distortion and things that aren’t natural to what a human displays. My sustained investigation that I am working on right now is about visions of mental illnesses. Using distortion and vivid colors helps me explain emotions and moods into my art. Being able to paint a mental illness can be so many things, which helps me become creative in what I display in my art.

The point I am trying to get across is that everyone sees the world differently, depending on what illnesses they have or how their life has shaped their perspective. My sustained investigation has shaped the way I do art, and has made me realize what is the most interesting art to me.
