Hello my name is Jessica Gallegos, I am a painter. I want people to understand and connect to the stories I tell in my paintings. Sometimes I might paint to where the story is obvious but often times I'll like to use symbols, or even quotes to slowly guide people. My intentions are to have people think deeply about my work. It’s honestly interesting hearing people talk about your work and to have them throw out ideas about what it means: what did the artist want the viewer to find, or why this? My work is inspired by Jean-michel Basquiat. His cryptic messages he puts into his artwork really inspired me, because I want to tell my story, just like he did in his paintings.

The work that I create are connected to my topic; ocean pollution. While helping create a mural this summer I realized how passionate I am about protecting our sacred water. I was truly devastated about how much our ocean is suffering, How the animals living in the ocean are dying because of this man made problem.
