CHEA Mission
As CHEA, our job is to understand, dismantle, and transform the social determinants that contribute to this and other health inequities. CHEA students and educators understand that a quality education is one of the most important tools our students have to take back East Oakland from the grips of gentrification and build a community where everyone can reach their full health potential.
The CHEA Team:
Meet Your Teachers and Advisors!
"As a field however fertile, cannot be fruitful without cultivation, neither can a mind without learning" - Frank Clark. Collectively, we promote learning to increase your yield
Hello! Through reading (together and individually), we will explore how written words can be used for different purposes, and how to better structure our own writing. We will learn to structure arguments, properly cite published works, and explore how literacy can be used as a liberatory tool for advocacy and social justice.
We will work on a variety of projects, using different technologies, learning and mastering new skills, as we explore the past, present and future in both World and US History.
We will explore how the six social determinants of health directly and indirectly impact our health and the health equity of our community in Oakland. While exploring these social determinants of health, we will begin to investigate plausible and viable solutions to address issues surrounding these six concepts.
Do you hate math? Are you "not a math person"? Don't let that hold you back. This year we will be taking a new approach to learning this subject. We'll explore practical uses of math through engaging projects, which will include critical analysis of inequities facing our community, and liberatory learning through financial freedom.
Do you hate distance learning? Are you "not a distance learning person"? Join Mr. Seldon and Ms. C, and we will figure this thing out together!
¿Odias el aprendizaje a distancia? ¿No eres "una persona que aprende a distancia"? Únase al Sr. Seldon y la Sra. C, ¡y resolveremos esto juntos!
