Come along to our WD for Families Hubs where you can be supported face to face by skilled staff to find resources, supports and/or services linked to family wellbeing.
Our vision of family support is one which is clearly accessible and readily available to all and any family who needs it. We aim to ensure families are able to access the help they need, where and when they need it for as long as it is needed. In West Dunbartonshire we have 3 WD for Family Hubs:
Travelling to Clydebank Hub
The main bus to Clydebank WD for Families Hubs is the No.2 Bus though Yoker, Whitecrook, Clydebank Central right up to the Faifley. Timetable for this bus can be accessed via OmniTIMES (firstbus.co.uk) . All bus going to Drumchapel, Mountblow, Parkhall, Duntocher all go by WD for Families Hub Clydebank.
Singers Train Station is the nearest station to the Clydebank Hub with bus stop just outside.
Travelling to Dumbarton Hub
The main bus lines to WD for Families Dumbarton Hub is the :1, 1A, 340. The nearest bus stops to Concord Community Centre in Dumbarton is St Mary's Way, Dumbarton. The bus timetable can be found here.
The nearest train station to Concord Community Centre in Dumbarton is Dumbarton Central. It’s a 5 min walk away.
Travelling to Bonhill Hub
The main bus to WD for Families Bonhill Hub is the 206 by First bus. Bonhill Bus Time Table can be accessed here : Timetables | First Bus
Routes to and from Haldane / Balloch / Alexandria and from Dumbarton - Haldane into Bonhilll .
Nearest Train Station to Bonhill is Alexandria Train Station and the bus stop for the 206 is just outside.

The WD for Families Hubs are fully staffed with skilled workers who can support you to access appropriate supports at the right time for you and your family. Our WD for Families Hubs are open from 9.00am until 4pm Tuesday to Thursday each week.

Neurodevelopmental Support in WD for Families Hubs
Within our the 3 WD for Families Hubs we have the Neurodevelopmental Team supporting families 1 day per week Tuesday - Thursday. The ND Team will be delivering group and individual work with carers, children and young people, who are currently waiting on a neurodevelopmental assessment or have recently received a diagnosis. Social Security Scotland Help and Advice in WD for Families Hubs
Social Security Scotland colleagues will visit the WD for Families Hubs one afternoon every month to offer advice and support to families.
Social Security Scotland is an executive agency of the Scottish Government. They help the people of Scotland by delivering social security payments. They believe social security is a human right and aim to serve everybody in Scotland equally. They take pride in assessing claims fairly and paying money efficiently to those eligible. Examples include disability support, child support, funeral support, and support for carers. They remember that any of us, at any time in our lives, may need this support. Social Security are a service that works in a clear, helpful and efficient way to get you what you're entitled to. Pop into the Hub on the dates listed below for more information or speak to one of the Outreach Workers based in the Hubs.
WD for Families Hubs... CEDAR Groups
WD CEDAR
WDCEDAR are currently taking referrals to their Cedar (Children Experiencing Domestic Abuse Recovery) Group Work Programme for the next cohort starting in WD for Families Hubs January 2024.
What is CEDAR?
CEDAR is a unique therapeutic groupwork programme for children and young people aged 4-16 and their mothers who have experienced domestic abuse. The aim of Cedar is to strengthen the relationship between children and mothers, allowing mums to support their children recover from domestic abuse. Cedar gives children the opportunity to explore their feelings in a safe space and gives mums the tools to help their children recover.
How to refer: An initial enquiry can be made by contacting the CEDAR Co-ordinator – Carol Young via email – carol.young@west-dunbarton.gov.uk or by calling Social Work main number (0141 562 8800) and leaving your details and requesting a call back. Please note this group is not a drop in service and participants will be invited to attend following some pre-work with the facilitators.
WD for Families Hubs... Incredible Years Groups
We are delighted to be able to let you know that Incredible Years Parent groups will be running in 2 of our WD for Familes Hubs from 1st February 2024. These will be delivered by IY trained facilitators from both Education and NHS staff. This course will run for 14 weeks, consisting of a 2 hour session on a Thursday morning.
What does the course involve?
The Incredible Years Parenting Programme is intended for parents/carers with children aged 3-7 years who are experiencing some challenging behaviours. To be considered for the group the following criteria applies:
The identified child should be between 3 - 7 years old at the beginning of the group.
The child should have elevated difficulties in emotional regulation, concentration and behaviour.
The parent should be able to manage the group commitment

The course content is detailed on the Parenting Pyramid starting at the bottom to make the foundations stronger before moving towards the top. This is a great opportunity for Parents to build another support network around them whilst they connect, discuss & problem solve with parents/carers who are experiencing similar difficulties and supported by trained facilitators. Clients will be set some tasks each week to practice the skills discussed during the session with their children at home and will be supported with an individual call outside the group by one of the facilitators.
