Our vision of family support is one which is clearly accessible and readily available to all and any family who needs it. We aim to ensure families are able to access the help they need, where and when they need it for as long as it is needed. In West Dunbartonshire we have 3 WD for Family Hubs:
The main bus to Clydebank WD for Families Hubs is the No.2 Bus though Yoker, Whitecrook, Clydebank Central right up to the Faifley. Timetable for this bus can be accessed via OmniTIMES (firstbus.co.uk) . All bus going to Drumchapel, Mountblow, Parkhall, Duntocher all go by WD for Families Hub Clydebank.
Singers Train Station is the nearest station to the Clydebank Hub with bus stop just outside.
The main bus lines to WD for Families Dumbarton Hub is the :1, 1A, 340. The nearest bus stops to Concord Community Centre in Dumbarton is St Mary's Way, Dumbarton. The bus timetable can be found here.
The nearest train station to Concord Community Centre in Dumbarton is Dumbarton Central. It’s a 5 min walk away.
The main bus to WD for Families Bonhill Hub is the 206 by First bus. Bonhill Bus Time Table can be accessed here : Timetables | First Bus
Routes to and from Haldane / Balloch / Alexandria and from Dumbarton - Haldane into Bonhilll .
Nearest Train Station to Bonhill is Alexandria Train Station and the bus stop for the 206 is just outside.
The WD for Families Hubs are fully staffed with skilled workers who can support you to access appropriate supports at the right time for you and your family. Our WD for Families Hubs are open from 9.00am until 4pm Tuesday to Thursday each week.
In addition, we have strong partnerships and collaboration with NHS Neurodevelopmental Team, NHS Health Improvement Team, Working 4 U, TIP'S, Early Years Scotland, WDC CEDAR, Y Sort It, Educational Services and many more to meet the needs of our communities and offer timely and appropriate supports.
We are currently working in partnership with Early Years Scotland to deliver sessions across our 3 WD for Families Hubs. Early Years Scotland is a registered charity, and Scotland’s leading national specialist organisation that supports our youngest children from pre-birth to 5 years of age.
Fully qualified Family Engagement Practitioners work directly with children and their families to deliver unique Stay Play and Learn sessions.
An additional offer within the WD for Families Hub is Baby Massage sessions. Referral forms for Baby Massage sessions are attached and can be submitted by any practitioner working with a family. Alternatively, families can drop in to the sessions in any of the Hubs.

Join us for free Makaton Taster Sessions this September at the WD for Families Bonhill Hub!
This is a great opportunity to discover how Makaton, a unique language programme that uses signs and symbols alongside speech, can support communication and language development.
Our sessions will be led by Kim, a fully qualified Teacher and Makaton Tutor from Educational Services.
Sessions take place on Thursday's, September 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM.

From August 2024 the ND team will not be available in the hubs for drop-in sessions, however, you can still contact the ND Team directly to discuss any concerns you may have. The ND contact number is 01389 818530. Post-diagnostic support sessions will still run within the hubs. The timetable for post-diagnostic support sessions can be seen below and here. Please note, these sessions are INVITE ONLY. The ND Team in collaboration with the Outreach Team will also be visiting some educational establishments for 'Cuppa and Connect' sessions. Please speak with the schools ASN Coordinator for further information.

Working 4 U colleagues will visit the WD for Families Hubs one afternoon every month to offer advice and support to families. Working4U is a service which supports West Dunbartonshire residents seeking employment opportunities, provide assistance with benefits and debt issues, help to access learning, gain qualifications and improve digital literacy. Working 4U staff can help to provide support for families, particularly those on the verge of crisis, to stabilise their family circumstances and help their children to meet the demands of the school day.
Working 4 U aim is:
" to support customers and communities to improve their skills, learning and financial situations, assisting them on their journey into work and protecting the rights of our citizens."
Service Users may be ready to go into a job now, there may be things that they need to work on before they would feel ready to start or they may be seeking new employment - Working4U can help!
We are delighted to be able to let you know that Incredible Years Parent groups will be running in 2 of our WD for Families Hubs from January 2026. These will be delivered by IY trained facilitators from both Education and NHS staff. This course will run for 14 weeks, consisting of a 2 hour session. We will run a core Incredible Year Group as well as a Autism and Language Delay Pilot Incredible Years Group.
The Incredible Years Parenting Programme is intended for parents/carers with children aged 3-7 years who are experiencing some challenging behaviours. To be considered for the group the following criteria applies:
The identified child should be between 3 - 7 years old at the beginning of the group.
The child should have elevated difficulties in emotional regulation, concentration and behaviour.
The parent should be able to manage the group commitment
The course content is detailed on the Parenting Pyramid starting at the bottom to make the foundations stronger before moving towards the top. This is a great opportunity for Parents to build another support network around them whilst they connect, discuss & problem solve with parents/carers who are experiencing similar difficulties and supported by trained facilitators. Clients will be set some tasks each week to practice the skills discussed during the session with their children at home and will be supported with an individual call outside the group by one of the facilitators.

In February 2026, will be running a pilot group in West Dunbartonshire for up to 10 parents of children age 2 – 5 years who are either: on the Neurodevelopmental pathway for assessment or have a diagnosis of Autism and / or with language delay.

What is CEDAR?
CEDAR is a unique therapeutic groupwork programme for children and young people aged 4-16 and their mothers who have experienced domestic abuse. The aim of Cedar is to strengthen the relationship between children and mothers, allowing mums to support their children recover from domestic abuse. Cedar gives children the opportunity to explore their feelings in a safe space and gives mums the tools to help their children recover.
How to refer: An initial enquiry can be made by contacting the CEDAR Co-ordinator – Carol Young via email – carol.young@west-dunbarton.gov.uk or by calling Social Work main number (0141 562 8800) and leaving your details and requesting a call back. Please note this group is not a drop in service and participants will be invited to attend following some pre-work with the facilitators.
As part of the WD for Families work CEDAR is actively seeking families with children between the ages of 10 & 11/12 years old (P6 & P7) that have experienced domestic abuse and would benefit from a specialist service intervention.
CEDAR is planning to run a young person’s 12-week therapeutic group work programme exploring the impact of domestic abuse and supporting recovery facilitated by Carol (CEDAR Support & Group Worker) and Arlene (Outreach Worker). The programme also includes a mother’s group work programme that runs parallel so that mother’s better understand their children’s experiences and the opportunity to explore how therapeutic parenting can buffer any ongoing post separation abuse or counter parenting stressors. The mother’s programme is a great resource for supporting children’s resilience and recovery.
The groups will take place in WD for Families Clydebank Hub starting 17th September and run through to 10th December, 2025 (Mother AM group 10-12noon / Children PM Group 1pm-3pm). Please note time and duration of group as well as requirement to transport pupil to group sessions each week.
