You may have heard that the government are introducing changes to the way in which children will be assessed in primary and early secondary school.
These changes are being introduced to monitor whether children in P1, P4, P7 and S3 have achieved a defined level of understanding in Curriculum for Excellence in the areas of literacy and numeracy.
A leaflet has been published for parents to provide information and hopefully answer any questions you may have about the introduction of national standardised assessments and assessment of children's progress. Please find a copy of the leaflet below.
Assessing Children's Progress: A Guide for Parents and Carers
The new national standardised assessments are part of the National Improvement Framework.
There is a website dedicated to Parents and carers that is continually updated to ensure you have access to the latest information. Click on the image below to visit the website to find out more information and what it means for your child.
PATHS, which stands for Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies, was written to help primary school children develop better thinking skills and more mature and responsible ways of behaving.
