Our Improvement Priorities for This Session

In alignment with West Dunbartonshire's overarching priorities for school improvement, our priorities for 2024-2025 are:

Priority 1: Wellbeing

Aim: Enhance the health and wellbeing of all our young people and families.

• Develop approaches to support learners’ emotional health and wellbeing, in line with the UNCRC.

• All staff will focus on fostering a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment through the implementation of the CIRCLE Framework, Better Relationships Policy, and inclusive practices.

Priority 2: Attainment

Aim: Establish strategies to raise attainment for all pupils, including those at risk of underachievement.

Visible Learning

• Implement the Visible Learning Programme to empower staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

• Develop Assessment Capable Learners who can confidently discuss their learning by answering three key questions:

  1. Where am I going?

  2. How am I doing?

  3. Where to next?

Numeracy

• Introduce West Dunbartonshire Council’s Count With Me in WDC planning documentation for Numeracy and Mathematics to enhance learning experiences and attainment in Number and Number Processes.

Literacy

• Staff member will undertake professional development and implement the council’s new Read With Me in WDC literacy approach at Primary 5.

Priority 3: Creativity

Aim: Promote creative teaching and learning practices to increase engagement.

• Further develop creative learning environments across the school.

• Enhance play pedagogy and collaboration at the Early Level.

Priority 4: Employability

Aim: Develop children’s and young people's skills to support achievement in learning, life, and work.

• Ensure progression in skills for learning, life, and work by embedding the six West Dunbartonshire Competencies (6 WD Cs) in our curriculum and learning:

  • Character

  • Communication

  • Collaboration

  • Citizenship

  • Creativity

  • Critical Thinking
