NHS Neurodevelopmental
NHS Neurodevelopmental Team will be supporting some of the work within our WD for Families Hubs. The ND Team will be located a day per week across the 3 Hub Sites: Clydebank Community Hub, Concord Centre Dumbarton and Bonhill Y Sort It Centre. ND Staff are being used to deliver group and individual work with carers, children and young people, who are currently waiting on a neurodevelopmental assessment or have recently received a diagnosis.
This programme was created using information gathered over the Summer 2023 through a variety of drop in sessions arranged within each hub as an opportunity for families to tell us what they are looking for by means of support whilst they wait for their child's assessment, or for families who already have a diagnosis so we can hear from them what worked, what could have been better and what they think will help other families on this journey. 800 parents and carers were been contacted directly and invited to the drop in session across the Summer by the health care team.
This programme will also offer opportunities for professional learning for the wider multi-agency workforce, with a series of ND specific CPD sessions for staff from all agencies being delivered in each hub. NHS staff from Specialist Children's Services (including Paediatricians, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Speech & Language Therapy), CAMHS (including Psychology and Nursing), and from the ND team itself will deliver these sessions. The Professional Learning Team will share this shortly.
