My teaching philosophy is multifaceted. As an early childhood educator, it is crucial to build the foundation and skills students will need all throughout life. This includes math and literacy skills, gross and fine motor skills, and social/emotional skills. Early childhood education builds the foundation for the journey of education throughout the lifespan.

I strongly believe in providing structure and routine. These concepts provide students with security and stability and they will quickly learn the expectations and limitations within the classroom. With these in place, the classroom becomes a conducive learning environment. Within this environment, students can be empowered and are encouraged to become responsible for their own learning. This positive learning experience will foster a love of learning that students will hopefully carry with them even when they leave my classroom.

In addition to creative a positive learning environment for all students, I believe in developing positive teacher to student rapport as well as positive student to student rapport. These positive relationships help develop a warm and welcoming learning environment that is essential to all students reaching their full potential. Students should feel welcome and safe within our classroom. I aim to use a creative and flexible teaching approach to ensure that all student needs are met. This is done by getting to know each student and learning how they themselves learn.

Ultimately, as a teacher I have the responsibility to do what is best for my students. I believe that all students should be given the opportunity to be taught the knowledge that they need to live their lives. In addition to academic content, early childhood education builds the personal and social skills of the students. All this knowledge lays the foundation for future learning. The early years of childhood education are crucial to student development and these tiny humans will soon grow into teenagers and adults carrying the essential knowledge that they learned so many years ago.
