Welcome to Mrs Gordon's Year 10 Social Studies class.

In Year 10, Integrated Studies separates into English and Social Studies.

Social Studies is about people and the societies they live in. You learn about people, places, cultures, histories, resources, the environment and the economic world, within and beyond New Zealand.

We will be looking at some of the following topics:

THE WAY WE WERE: Early New Zealand history (Term One)

PURSUIT OF POWER: Hitler's rise to power and how he changed Germany

GETTING A FAIR GO: Examining human rights issues

EARTH UNDER PRESSURE: Environmental issues, resources and population

EXTREME TSUNAMI: Examination of a natural disaster

THE REAL GAME: A look at the world of work and real life issues such as budgeting and planning a career (Term Three)

We will also look at current events and issues.

RULES FOR SETTING OUT WORK:

Some of your work will be done in your books and some on Google Docs. In all cases, the following applies:

1. All work must be dated.

2. All work needs a heading.

3. Put the question number in the margin.

4. Always do your best work and catch up on missed work.

5. All maps and diagrams must have a separate title and a frame.
