Term 2 Week 3, SOL 7/8 Homeroom and Maths, Wednesday 29th April.

• Today we begin with an online Google Hangouts meeting at 9.45am. We will be doing this every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.45am. You are expected to attend so please do your best to be there. As well as several of the usual TV channels there are also two new channels aimed at students learning from home called Home Learning TV and Papa Kainga TV (these are under the 'On Demand' section) so you might want to check these out. Please make sure to get your parent's/caregiver's consent before watching anything on the eTV site.

• Continue working on an activity on the Studyladder website in the 'Reading-Narrative' task that has been set for you. • Write a story based on this picture: (write this story in your Hapara Workspace in the Creative Writing section). Remember to copy and paste the picture onto the start of your doc. Aim for at least 100 words. Please remember to use paragraphs, full stops and capital letters at the start of sentences. Also, try to use some adjectives (describing words). For example, instead of saying 'The train tracks went into the forest.' you could say 'The rickety, moss-covered train tracks disappeared into the misty forest '.

• Maths: At the end of this week we will be finishing our studies on Measurement by having a test so please work on your Education Perfect Maths activities.

• What is something that annoys you? Is there anything you're watching, seeing or observing that you are 'over'? There is a guy in New York who protests with cardboard signs about things that annoy him. Check him out Here. Make your own sign - either on paper or cardboard, or on Google Drawings and then upload your sign to the photos folder in Hapara Workspace. If you can't manage that then just put it on a google Doc and email it to me. When you make your sign consider who your audience is (you want to be seeing it) and make the message simple.

Term 2 Week 2, SOL 7/8 Homeroom and Maths, Tuesday 21st April.

• There are two Anzac Day folders in your Hapara Workspace called 'Anzac Day' and 'The Great Anzac day Project'. Spend some time this week working through the slideshow activities. You aren't expected to complete all the activities (especially in 'The Great Anzac Biscuit Project') so just pick and choose whatever activities you feel like doing.

• Write a story based on this picture: (write this story in your Hapara Workspace in the Creative Writing section).

Remember to copy and paste the picture onto the start of your doc.

Aim for at least 100 words.

Please remember to use paragraphs, full stops and capital letters at the start of sentences.

Also, try to use some adjectives (describing words). For example, instead of saying 'The castle was built on a rock.' you could say 'The castle was built on a jagged rock'.

• Complete one activity on the Studyladder website in the 'Reading-Narrative' task that has been set for you. . I emailed you your username and password details in the last week of last term-please keep these in a safe place! The link to the website is: Studyladder (click on the link). We will eventually be doing all 9 activities but for today please choose any one of them, read the article and then answer the questions

• Write a story based on this idea: If you could paint a picture of anything, knowing it would come alive, what would you paint?

It is to be at least 100 words and written on the google doc that is in our Hapara Workspace folder called 'Creative Writing' (which is in the 'Evidence' column).

Was there anything mentioned in the video that you could apply to your own life to make you a happier and healthier person? If so, think about how you could apply these to your life and come up with an action plan! Every now and then have a look at your plan to see if you're still working on things that could make you more happy and healthy.

• Spend 30 minutes working on your Education Perfect English tasks.

• Maths: Click on This Puzzle Link and spend 30-45 minutes working your way through the puzzles. It's quite tricky so you mightn't even finish one puzzle! There are instructions on the page but a more simple explanation is that you'll be dividing the grid into rectangles or squares so that the area of each rectangle and square is the same as the number it contains. Use a different colour for each rectangle and square.
