Geography/ River Valley Civilizations

Unit Objectives:

• Students will understand the connection between geography and a place and its history.

• Students will identify the tools we use in order to understand the past.

• Students will define the effect that geography and climate have on civilizations.

• Students will be able to explain the relevance of the 5 Themes of Geography.

Skills we will use:

• Students will use the five themes of geography to draw conclusions

• Students will use a variety of map skills (use of compass, use of key, etc.) to draw conclusions

• Students will work collaboratively in groups to discuss important concepts

• Students will use technology to research information

• Students will make connections between the past and present

• Students will use a variety of thinking maps to organize information.
