Welcome To My OHS Art Classroom

Teacher/Artist Bio:

Hello, my name is Ron Whitehead and I teach Photography I, 2, 3 and 4, Filmmaking and AP Art Studio at Ossining High School. I have been teaching here in Ossining for twenty four years. I started teaching at Claremont School, where I taught art for ten years. I am the mentor for the OHS Art Club so please let me know if you are interested in joining our club. I'm an active artist who enjoys sharing my artwork with my students.

After graduating from high school, I enlisted into the US Army for four years. While there, I served as an Infantryman and was stationed in Germany and at Fort Polk La. I also served a tour in Iraq where I fought in Desert Storm. Once leaving the Army, I earned my Art Education degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College and I attended Messiah University for two years prior to moving to New York. I have my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology which I received from Western Connecticut State University. My favorite sports are football and wrestling (I wrestled in high school and in college).

I love spending all of my free time with my wife Rachel, our daughter Anna and our son Sawyer. We like to hike, longboard and watch movies together. One of my biggest passions is to serve others. I often create art for fellow veterans and their families.

I will be using Google Classroom to share all of my assignments, instructions and examples with my students. Each student will have an online portfolio/website to place all of their finished artwork in. Their online portfolio/website is the best location to check for completed work.

If you would like to contact me I find it easiest to do so via email. I teach in several rooms but I check my email several times a day.
