Transitional Kindergarten at Santa Margarita

with Mrs. Nance

 About the teacher:

I began my career in education in 2014. Prior to teaching Transitional Kindergarten, I taught preschool and elementary school. Now I get to combine my knowledge of the 2 age groups in this unique grade.  I love teaching TK, and feel truly blessed to be at Santa Margarita School teaching the children of our wonderful military families. My goal is to teach your children to be independent problem solvers who are ready for their academic future emotionally, socially, and academically.

What is Transitional Kindergarten?

TK is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program for students who miss the kindergarten cut off date to start school. Students in TK turn five years old between Sept 1-April 1.

TK is often referred to as 'the gift of time.'

TK combines the Kindergarten California Common Core State Standards with the Preschool Learning Foundation Standards to create a unique hands-on play based curriculum designed for students in this special age group so they develop as positive independent learners.
