Monday we began walk through revolution and received our cards for parts memorization of Walk through Revolution (so much fun, I can't wait).
Tuesday was a whirlwind of in-n-out for APEX, two fifth grade photo ops, but it was all in a day which leaves the rest of the week open for battle scene practice.
Today students visited the Hydroponics greenhouse for the first time. Ask your students about their new plants! We also started iReady Reading which we will continue next week on Wednesday. Things are going great with the new rotation! We have been enjoying our learning amongst peer mentors and collaborative groupings. Our puzzling table is a big hit along with game day, and is opening up the opportunity to learn organization and positive cooperative lines of communication.
I have observed them reorganizing the table several times. Together they have figured out a strategy for working together on the same goal. It's fascinating to see the bonding.

WOW!! Super proud of our designers! They are well on their way! Our goal is Friday; however some are further along with their plan than others:) Those who complete their structures early will help with the elaboration of Humphreyville.
At the end of the project students will reflect on their building process in writing.
Thank you to those who were able to donate from their craft closets:) The kids are having a blast.
Thursday 9/9
Due to safety concerns for all, fifth grade students have a consequence for misbehaving in the cafeteria per Dr. Schlueter. Assigned tables will be instituted at lunch and no talking during lunch until Monday. If they can prove themselves for the next two days by showing respect to the playground teachers during lunch, (listening and following directions, no rough housing, throwing food, tripping, or shoving) they may have their privilege of talking back. Monitored assigned seating will remain in place until behavior improves and a safe lunch routine is established. Please keep in mind that lunch is 20 minutes, and this does not include recess.

Short DAY!! seems to be the favorite of the week. Don't get me wrong students seems to be excited to be back at school with their friends, but I am not sure they are all super excited, just Yet, about what that means:) Some are still settling in to the routine, which is to be expected.
This week so far we have begun to build our community and developing systems for operations. We have participated in discussions, read and talked about books; as well as participated in team building activities. Our new Chromebooks, required some set up time as students had difficulty remembering passwords, etc. However, now we are logged into Google Classroom we are ready to start. Students enjoyed P.E. on Monday and music will be added to the schedule soon. I will reach out when I have more information.
My prediction is there will be an adjustment period for all students and some may take longer than others. Please reach out if you have questions.
