Fall Challenge: Wellness Points Program
What is the Fall Wellness Points Program?
The Fall Wellness Points Program is an opportunity for OUSD employees to participate in wellness activities throughout the fall while earning points toward the program incentive.
The challenge is geared to help identify health risks, offer resources and guides for maintaining and improving employees' health, encourage a positive work environment, and build camaraderie!
How is the wellness program funded?
The Oceanside USD wellness program is funded with dedicated wellness funds provided by UnitedHealthcare and California Schools VEBA. Wellness funds are used solely for the purpose of the program.
How is the wellness program administered?
The Oceanside USD wellness program is administered by the Oceanside Health and Wellness Champions (HAWCs) committee.
What is the Oceanside Health and Wellness Champions?
The OUSD Health and Wellness Champions (HAWCs) is a committee comprised of Oceanside USD employees from all bargaining units (Classified, Certificated and Leadership) whose goal is to develop a comprehensive plan and promote employee engagement in their overall wellness (financial, mental and physical).
In collaboration with VEBA, UnitedHealthcare and selected vendors, the HAWC committee organizes two wellness challenges throughout the year - the Spring Wellness Challenge and the Fall Wellness Challenge.
Do I have to be a wellness expert to participate?
Not at all!
This program isn't about being perfect. It's about making time for yourself, trying something new, moving a little more, taking care of your health, and finding wellness activities that work for you.
Every point is a step toward a healthier you!
When does the program run?
The Fall Wellness Points Program runs from September 21 through November 30, 2026.
Who can participate?
All OUSD employees may participate in the Fall Wellness Points Program.
Do I have to complete every activity?
No! The program is designed to give you choices. Participate in the activities that work best for you, your time and your wellness goals.
How do I earn points?
Points are earned by completing the qualifying wellness activities listed in the Fall Wellness Points Program Flyer.
Do I have to earn all the available points?
No. You can participate as much as you'd like. The program offers multiple ways to earn points throughout the fall.
What is the maximum number of points I can earn?
The Fall Wellness Points Program offers a maximum of 2,300 points.
Can I earn points from more than one activity?
Absolutely! That's the fun of the program. You can participate in multiple qualifying activities and build your points throughout the program.
Can I earn points more than once for the same activity?
Point opportunities vary by activity. Please carefully read the specific instructions provided for each activity to determine whether an activity may be completed more than once for points.
When is Health & Wellness Clinic Day?
Health & Wellness Clinic Day will be held on September 30, 2026, at the ATP (Adult Transition Program).
What screenings and services will be available?
The Health & Wellness Clinic Day will offer several convenient wellness services, including:
Flu shot clinic — 150 points
DermaScan — 50 points
Carotid/Thyroid Ultrasound — 50 points
Blood Pressure Screening — 50 points
You can participate in multiple screenings during Clinic Day.
How many points can I earn at the Health & Wellness Clinic Day?
You can earn up to 300 points by participating in the available Clinic Day activities.
I already received my flu shot before Clinic Day. Can I still participate?
Absolutely! You can still participate in the other available Health & Wellness Clinic Day screenings and earn the points associated with those activities.
Please note that the 150-point Health & Wellness Clinic Day flu-shot opportunity is specifically associated with receiving the flu shot at the event on September 30, 2026.
Do I have to get a flu shot to participate in the Health & Wellness Clinic Day?
No. You may participate in the other available screenings without receiving a flu shot.
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are recommended, as slots fill up quickly. You can visit the Health & Wellness section of the OUSD Insurance website to schedule your visit.
Walk-Ins are welcome but priority will be given to those who have an appointment.
Are there wellness activities besides the Health & Wellness Clinic Day?
Yes! The Health & Wellness Clinic Day is just one opportunity to earn points.
Additional activities include opportunities such as Visit the VRC (VEBA Resource Center) in Carlsbad and Get Out & Explore, along with other wellness activities offered throughout the program.

Can I participate in an activity even if I don't need the points?
Of course! The purpose of the program is to encourage healthy habits and wellness. The points are simply an added incentive to participate.
What if I think my points were recorded incorrectly?
If you believe there is an error with your points, please contact the OUSD Insurance Department so your submission can be reviewed.
What if I have a question about whether an activity qualifies for points?
When in doubt, check the activity instructions before participating. If you're still unsure, contact the OUSD Insurance Department for clarification.
Are there prizes for participating in the wellness points program?
Yes! You can win an incentive prize by completing wellness activities during the challenge period. The more activities you complete the more you can win! Check the wellness incentive flyer for more information.
There are also opportunities to win raffle prizes throughout the challenge.
How do I track my points?
You can keep track of your wellness activities by printing the online Fall Wellness Points Program form and recording your activities there.
How and when do I submit my fall wellness program points?
You must complete the online/digital version of Fall Wellness Points Program form and submit it no later than December 3, 2026.
Please note that only the most current form submitted will be the one that will be accepted and counted towards incentive prizes.
When will the wellness program incentive prizes be available?
The Fall Wellness Points Program incentive prizes will be released no later than December 18, 2026.
Additional information about distribution and pickup will be provided as the program gets closer to completion.
Is there a deadline for the wellness program incentive prizes?
Yes. All incentive prizes must be picked up at the OUSD Insurance Department (2111 Mission Avenue, Oceanside, CA 92058) by January 29, 2027.
Are incentive prizes taxable?
Some incentive prizes are subject to IRS taxes and will be processed as taxable income through payroll deductions in the months of June and December.
