AARC Supervising Teacher grades 6-12

My Name is Mrs. Diane King and I have been an outstanding teacher for over 30 years now. Most all of my career I’ve taught math and science for both middle and high school. In 2000, I received the honor of Teacher of the Year from the Jefferson Middle School Staff. In 2013, after receiving my certified on-line instructor certificate, I left the traditional classroom and moved to Independent Study Programs. Here’s a little about our I.S. middle school program.

Students are enrolled in an online curriculum (Edgenuity). Students watch video lessons in every subject, learning to take both paper/pencil notes as well as enotes. While students are in class, they work most often, independently on computers. They will also meet with the teacher one-on-one, weekly, to check progress and receive a weekly progress report for parents to sign. Students do, however, have access to the teacher every day for any questions, lesson help, working one-on-one instruction, and also calling or emailing for assistance.

Our kids will do several hands-on and virtual science lab activities this year as well as digital citizen projects with several other activities in the works. Students are enrolled in four academic core courses - History/Social Studies, Mathematics, English/Language Arts, and Science. They are asked to record a minimum of 6 hours, every day, not counting idle time.

Students also have the opportunity to take Spanish or French as an elective as well as carer pathways or on-line digital citizenship courses too. This is an outstanding, rigorous program for 6th-8th graders!
