Mrs. Casey's Digital Portfolio

WHO I AM

My name is Courtney Casey and I am a teacher in the Oceanside Unified School District. I am currently the School Based Resource Teacher at Mission Elementary, but have also taught first grade. I have been with the district since 2002. I began as a student teacher at Stuart Mesa Elementary and continued on with the district as a support teacher at Mission, a Kindergarten and fourth grade teacher at Foussat, and my recent years at Mission Elementary. I am very dedicated to the Oceanside School District and think of it as my second home.

EDUCATION

I received my Bachelor's degree in Diversified Liberal Arts from the University of San Diego, as well as my teaching credential. I have continued my learning as a graduate student at California State University San Marcos and University of Phoenix, taking classes in special education and second language development.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

We as teachers create the future of our country. I feel each student has the potential to be their best and it is our job as teachers to find that special something inside our students. The unique needs and talents of students is something we need to nurture and help grow in order for a child to reach their highest potential. Teaching takes a lot of time, commitment, and dedication, but the results are so rewarding. I personally work with each of my students individually to help them see their talents and reach their goals. I love, respect, and cherish each of my students every day.

HOBBIES

I am an extremely active person. Whether it is running, hiking, or a stroll on the beach, I love the outdoors and taking advantage of my surroundings. I love spending time with my daughter, Evan, and my family. I spend a lot of time with friends and those that I love dearly.
