Our mission was to paint numerous rocks that had varying messages that inspired hope, raised spirits and detached a person from their daily lives where they might have felt ensnared in a troubling cycle of negativity. While some of the rocks take more of a comical route hoping to spark a few laughs such as strawberry saying "be berry nice" others simply have short messages that are there to push people to persevere through road blocks that they encounter. The rocks are hidden throughout the community in spots that their corresponding QR codes can prosper without blowing away or being shredded to pieces. The objective of hidden kindness rocks throughout the community is that people will find them and get the little extra boost of confidence, endearment or faith that they may be lacking as we have all been there before where we have felt like there is no escaping the rabbit hole of misfortune that we have stumbled down. Hopefully they will discover that while a compliment or joke from a rock might feel foreign it is a comfort and a safety blanket in a world of unknown wonders and they too will begin to spread kindness throughout their places of work, school environments and even their homes as sometimes even just telling your parent that the new pair of shoes they bought look great on them can make their day and set them up for success. Kind people are people who strive and succeed as an environment of passion and warmth will always out beat one of stagnant coldness because people find familiarity in the faces that surround them instead of hate and fear. In the end, this is about being the light in someone else's day when they most need it and learning how to be a kinder human-being who gives true, meaningful compliments and helps out those in need.
No matter where you are in the world a common denominator between us all is the kindness that ebbs and flows through our bodies. It does not matter what background you come from, your income, your social status or rank among your peers as kindness is naturally occurring in all of our souls it just that some people choose more than others to utilize it. However, it is essential that we choose to utilize kindness frequently in our day to day lives because not only does it make peers feel warm and fuzzy inside but it also prevents situations that often become catastrophic from occurring.
In the Asian-Pacific area the Philippines had reported to have had the highest cases of bullying as about 58.9% of their male students and 58.4% of their female students felt as though they were being "made fun of" on a reoccurring basis. However, the problem was not just in the Philippines as it is not just in Wisconsin, high numbers of students reporting bullying also stemmed from Hong Kong at about 49.6% in their male student body and in Indonesia at around 33.6% in their female student body. This goes on to show that bullying is a relevant global issue as it seems to weave its way throughout the world where everyone lives and breathes and there truly is no sanctuary. Although not all hope is lost because bullying can be prevented! It's honestly not as challenging as it seems if everyone would lend in a helping hand and be kind to one another and if they see someone who seems to be struggling instead of making their struggles into a spectacle find a way to help them move on and brighten their day as if the roles were reversed that's how you would want to be treated. Millie Castleton a Yorkshire citizen was just a young kid when her family started facing financial problems as her father had just lost his job creating. As she grew into a young adolescent her peers began to bully her to the point in which she developed an eating disorder due to the constant stress and fear that her classmates where creating in her learning environment. If her peers would have chosen kindness instead of hatred and used it to help Millie out of the dark place that her family's financial problems had originally put her in she wouldn't have felt like she had to drop out of school and that she had to find unhealthy ways such as an eating disorder to cope with the never ending anxiety coming her way. A woman traveling through Ireland hoping to be able to site see and venture out to the Ring of Kerry started to experience car troubles during her journey, and eventually her car ended up shutting down on her completely. However, unlike the unfriendly faces that you may often experience speed past you when your car breaks down on the side of the highway and it seems as though you are stranded on a desolate island all alone she had the opposite experience. This traveler would come in contact with locals who would not only pull over but offer their assistance in getting her car running again. This one single act of kindness is what renews a faith in mankind as instead of speeding past a person in need of help in a foreign country people rallied around her and made her feel at home. This story of a traveler was collected from the National Geographic website: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/article/10-acts-of-kindness .
A woman traveling to Hualien--one of the regions of Taiwan--she found herself in a scooter accident after attempting to explore the beauties of the nature surrounding her. Fear coursed through her veins at the thought of being left alone and injured in a place in which she could barely communicate with the people who surrounded her and that was if they found her. Luckily two local women found her and despite the language barrier the three found a way to bandage the traveler up and send her on her merry way. The two locals act of kindness warmed the hearts of not just the injured woman but all of those who she shared her story with as these locals could have easily abandoned her or ignored her on their hike but took the time to take care of her and treat her as one of their own. The lesson that lies within this is that despite our linguistic difference, our cultural differences, or quite literally any difference you could find between yourself and another there is no valid reason not to lend a helping hand to a person in need as we are all family in a way. This heartbreaking story was accumulated from the National Geographic website: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/article/10-acts-of-kindness .
