Oshkagoojin Indigenous Theatre for Youth creates, develops, and supports Indigenous theatre and multidisciplinary artistic projects rooted in relationship, collaboration, and community.
From original productions and adaptations to new work development and collaborative artistic initiatives, OITY's projects create space for Indigenous stories, artistic growth, mentorship, and creative exchange.
Adapted for the stage by Dezarae Meade
Based on the book by Daphne Odjig
Presented by Oshkagoojin Theatre Projects in friendship with Prairie Theatre Exchange.
When endless rain threatens the world, Nanabush must restore the friendship between Thunder and Sun. Filled with humour, adventure, and heart, this family-friendly production invites audiences to reflect on relationships, responsibility, and the balance we seek within ourselves and our communities.
Inspired by Daphne Odjig's beloved retelling of the Ojibwe Nanabush story, Nanabush and the Spirit of Thunder brings an important story from oral tradition to illustrated book and now to the stage through live performance.
Tickets and school bookings are available through Prairie Theatre Exchange.
Public Performance tickets go on sale July 1.
