The past two years have been very exciting for me in the field of journalism. After moving to Oxford Mississippi in the 9th grade, I found myself wanting to meet new people and try new things. I had always been a dancer and was a cheerleader at my previous school. However, I was ready to explore something new, so I took a leap of faith and started to pursue journalism. I have always enjoyed writing and taking pictures with my dad’s “big” camera and felt like this was a good match for me as a new student at Oxford High School. I became a part of the Charger newspaper and The Charger Media group. I taught myself a lot about writing articles, and found myself on the sidelines of the football games capturing action shots, something I had no clue I could do. During my sophomore year, I was named the Assistant Director of the Charger Update, a weekly broadcast at the high school, as well as the Assistant Director of Charger Media group. These are all roles that I have truly enjoyed and Journalism has become a major part of my high school memories.
This is a short video showing what my role is at our media days. I personally enjoy taking pictures to advertise our school sports and activities. As you can see in this video, one of my favorite parts of photography is getting to show people the pictures and see their immediate reactions!
