Students will learn and experience the entire accounting cycle, special journals, payroll tax principles, special procedures and financial statements through practice and application.  This is course is a two trimester course and will satisfy the requirements for Northwood Technical College, Financial Accounting 1 if the grade earned is above a C.

Business Law provides the student with a working knowledge of the legal system, business ethics, and essentials of contracts. Students gain knowledge in logical and analytical thinking, and are encouraged to challenge legal issues and defend their point of view.  This is course will satisfy the requirements for Northwood Technical College, Business Law if the grade earned is above a C.

Career Academy Program (CAP) is an individualized project-based learning opportunity for students that utilizes community connections and employment opportunities. Time will be spent in an employment

setting and in the CAP classroom. The integrity of this program and the partnerships with community

businesses and mentors relies on the students’ readiness, dependability, and ability to be self motivated for this step into the adult work world.

NOTE: There is an application and interview process for admission into the program. Once admitted into

the program, students will need to secure a worksite and mentor.

Students will utilize the four main Microsoft Office Programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Students will also enhance keyboarding skills, produce business documents, and explore their career path.

Students will use various software including Adobe Creative Suite to create design projects. Students will gain practical experience designing and creating professional documents electronically. Students will be able to add items to their design portfolio.

This course is designed for students wishing to study business or plan on going into business. Topics

covered will consist of management, economics, marketing, international business, finance and operating your own business. Students will be writing a business plan that incorporates the topics covered.

Digital Video and Audio is a project-based course that develops key digital communication skills such as design, project management, research and communication, and video and audio design and production technical skills using Adobe Premiere. Students gain experience through real-world projects that help them understand roles and processes across a broad range of careers involving digital video. Students film and edit projects on location as well in our in-house studio.

This course covers many financial topics that the student will experience within ten years or less of graduation. Topics such as 401K, investment options, vehicle transactions, banking transactions,

insurance, understanding and use of credit, mortgages, as well as a unit on employment covering cover letters, resumes, and the interviewing process.

This course focuses on the marketing process as it relates to the operation of a business enterprise. The intent is to provide students with an understanding of how the marketing function fits within the overall structure of the organization. Special attention is given to the role and significance of evaluating customer needs, pricing, distribution, and promotion of products and services. This is course will satisfy the requirements for Northwood Technical College, Marketing Principles if the grade earned is above a C.
