About Mr. Scaife: An average sized hominid, Scaife currently resides on a dense terrestrial planet orbiting a yellow G class star in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. He often spends his time having his cells go through mitosis and practicing cellular respiration. At least once during each of his planet's rotational periods, he will enter a hibernation mode to rejuvenate his central nervous system. He enjoys sharing his home with multiple Felis catus, collecting plastic effigies, as well as observing and interpreting graphic symbols relating to various fictional creations of extraordinary beings and science related fictional parables.

Here's some pictures from things we did in previous years in science:

Frog Directions!

Science is about exploring and doing!

Working together is critical in science

Learning about chemical reactions!

Looking for life in the water from our pond!

Making observations of the wetland ecosystem that we have just outside our classroom!

Using microscopes to study microorganisms

When it snowed one year, we had a competition as to who could make the best Snow Turtle!

Here's a little about me!

I really enjoy hiking. My favorite place to go hiking is on Tahoma. Tahoma, or Tacoma, is the Indigenous name for Mt. Rainier.

Sometimes I make friends with wild birds

I have A LOT of cats!

Apollo: He's a BIG boy (18 pounds!). His nickname is Beastie, or Ferdinand because he loves to smell flowers!

Diego: He has extra toes and blue eyes, and his favorite game is chase, where I chase him, then he stops and I run away and he chases me. He also enjoyed sitting on my shoulder or head during virtual classes and meets!

Torrhen: She's the smallest one, but she has a super long tail, almost like a lemur!

Haley: She's the little princess, who likes to sit next to me last year during online teaching!

Rohelio: He LOVES to cuddle, even when it is really hot out!

Hawk: He was a wild kitten who showed up on my patio during a rain storm and never left (he wasn't wearing the beanie when he showed up though). He's the one everyone could hear meowing during our meets last year.

Other interesting (at least I think so) facts about me:

  • I've hiked up mountains and sat with mountain gorillas

  • I make custom action figures

  • I'm a cosplayer. Costumes I've made include Falcon, Dr. Strange, Shredder (from TMNT), Captain Jack Sparrow, Clark Kent, Luke Skywalker (ROTJ)

  • I'm currently upgrading my Mandalorian Armor from last year and hope to have it done by Halloween this year!

  • I love to garden and especially to grow tomatoes.

  • I enjoy creating ACBA (Articulated Comic Book Art)

  • I consider myself a nerd and am proud of it

  • I fight for social justice

  • I started teaching in Los Angeles, CA

  • I have taught Math, English, Social Studies and Science before. Science is what I have taught the most and is my favorite to teach
