Creating a Bibliography

Students at OMS use tools like EasyBib and Citation Machine to create and format bibliographies in MLA style. EasyBib is integrated into Google Apps which allows students to create files for separate projects in EasyBib and save their bibliographies to Google Drive or Microsoft Word. Students in Ms. Thompson's classes, grades 6-8, practice using this tool. Students are expected to create a bibliography accurately.

Works Cited/Bibliography Basic Format:

• separate page at the end of your document (or project)
• page number and last name in the header (same as rest of report)
• label the page Works Cited (centered at the top of the page)
• double space all citations, but do not skip spaces between entries
• alphabetize sources by author's last name (if no author, then by title)
• indent the second and subsequent lines of citations by 0.5 inches to create a hanging indent--Easybib will format this automatically if exported correctly

The following examples will help students understand the terminology for the fields used in a webpage bibliography using EasyBib.

**Note: When exporting sources from Easybib, make sure to export as a Word or Google document to keep the proper format of a bibliography!
